From October 15 to November 15 Micrographia@Western will be hosting a demonstration of a Tibidabo Scientific LIFA FLIM vTAU system. This Fluorescence Lifetime Imaging Microscope (FLIM) detects the unique temporal signature of fluorophores to provide several unique imaging approaches:
- Detection of metabolic and signaling processes such as mitochondrial polarization and cAMP signaling.
- Separation of fluorophores from autofluorescence in challenging samples such as tissue sections.
- “Label-free” detection of some tissue components based on their intrinsic autofluorescence signature.
- Fluorescence Resonance Energy Transfer (FRET) detection of inter-protein interactions between fluorescently labeled proteins.
- Separation of signals from fluorophores with similar overlapping or identical emission wavelengths.
Available Channels
- 450 nm – CFP, mTurquoise, ATTO465, and other cyan fluorophores
- 490 nm – eGFP, FITC, Alexa 488), and other green fluorophores
- 636 nm – Cy5, Alexa 647, miRFP670
Seminars and Training
An educational seminar and on-line training will be available. Details on these will be posted at a later date.
Signup for Instrument Time
A signup calendar will be made available closer to the start of the demonstration.
